Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the students will: - know in depth the last two centuries of history, in particular from the early 1800s; - orient themselves in the international political scene, making multidisciplinary connections and contaminations among history related subjects; - be able to use tools and methods learned both within historical contexts and in other degree course's teachings' issues; - be able to analyse, from a historical and socio-economic point of view, such universal themes as self-determination, citizenship, civil liberties, national independencies, international genocides, social, religious, political and military conflicts; - be able to verbally explain their own evaluations and conclusions about the historical background of the contemporary age's social and political life; - be able to use tools and methods learned in the historical field to deepen their knowledges, implementing a wide independent judgment; - possess the methodological and didactic tools to promote the learning process of history in the primary schools; - be able to use specific teaching strategies to motivate students to the study of history.
Course contents
The course shall cover the Twentieth Century's italian and international history, with particular reference to people history's elements. Anti-Semitism, political issues, world conflicts will be discussed, trying to combine political and social history in order to build a values and emotions history.

Teaching methods
Lectures require the applications of tools and notions in order to educate to legality. They also demand a historical and educational project's path.
Assessment methods
Final exams on the dates planned and indicated in the instructor webpage under: teaching> Exam sessions.
Students that will attend classes: the exam consists of an oral interview in which the candidate must provide proof of having acquired critical, methodological and synthesis skills, and a proper language.
The oral exam begins with a check of the exam program, checking the teacher's permissions for personally agreed programs, and then evaluating the manual (at least three questions). Subsequently, if the outcome is positive, you continue with reflections on the other texts, and then with one or two questions regarding the content of the lessons,
Students that will not attend classes: the exam consists of an oral interview on the indicated readings, with particular reference to the manuals; the students must also summarise the additional monography, demonstrating knowledge and mastery of the subject studied.
Grades are expressed in thirtieths. Registration on electronic board is required in order to take the exam. In case of technical difficulties, with the student affairs office's approval, professor will still admit the students to the exam.
Top marks will be awarded to a student displaying an ability to provide an overall understanding of the topics discussed in the bibliography and during the lectures (or in the additional book), combined with a critical approach to the material and a confident and effective use of the appropriate terminology
Average marks will be awarded to a student who has memorized the main points of the material and is able to summarise them satisfactorily and provide an effective critical commentary, while failing to display a complete command of the appropriate terminology.
A student will be deemed to have failed the exam if he displays significant errors in his understanding and failure to grasp the overall outlines of the subject, together with a poor command of the appropriate terminology.
