Learning outcomes
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able
- to describe key themes in the history of medicine, healing and public health;
- to understand how conecpts of disease and health have changed over time.
Topics include the history of disease, the history of therapeutics and patients and healers.
Course contents
This course introduces the historical dimensions of Western medicine from professionalization of healing in Greco-Egyptian antiquity to the present day.
