Learning outcomes

At end of the course, the student will acquire the necessary knowledge on the  operation and utilization of agricultural and forestry machinery. In particular, the student will be able to establish agro-forestry mechanization plans, choose machines and their combinations in relation to technological, cultural, structural, environmental and economic constraints.

Course contents

Development of agricultural mechanization. Functions and types of agricultural machinery. Mechanization levels. Scientific organization of work. Operating cost of agricultural machinery. Study of technological and functional characteristics of agricultural engines: engine classification, engine performance, operating principles and fundamental organs, characteristic curves. Functional characteristics of  tyred tractors and crawler tractors. Characteristics and operation of agricultural machinery for: sowing and planting, crop protection, forage harvesting, combine harvesters, root and horticultural harvesting.  Typology and levels of forestry mechanization. Forestry tractor, skidder and forwarder. Machinery for forestry uses. Cableways and cable crane with driving mobile station.
