Course contents

Statistical Mechanics: Maxwell distribution and thermodinamics of the perfect gases. Quantum Mechanics: classic and quantum observables, the space of the states and self-adjoint operators, quantization rules. Coninuous unitary groups and generators: equation of the motion.
Quantization, energy levels and stationary states of the harmonic oscillator. One-dimensional problems with piecewise-constant potentials and scattering matrix. Tunnel effect. Reletivistic Mechanics: Lorentz's transormations, Maxwell's equations.

Readings/Bibliography

The sending of the different parts of the notes will follow the corresponding lectures.

Assessment methods

Oral exam. A first subject is proposed by the student, and a second one is a professor choise. We ask a good
knowledge of the mechanical problems treated. A certain acquaintance with the mathematical thechniques involved is strongly appreciated.
