Course contents

The course in Italian Linguistics consists of 3 parts: general linguistics (Part A) held by Dr. Cristiana De Santis, Italian lingusitics (Part B), argumentation theory (part C). Parts B and C will be carried out by Prof. Francesca Gatta.


Program A
Elements of general linguistics (focusing on phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax)

Program B
Part B of the course will address topics of Italian grammar and linguistics (lexicon, syntax, verb tenses and standard varieties of language)

Program C
Part C concerns the theory of argumentation. The lessons will be conducted in a seminar format starting with argumentative texts (newspaper articles, dialogues, theatrical and films)

Assessment methods

The final evaluation of the course of Italian Linguistics is the sum of all the marks obtained in the individual parts.

Part A: final written test
Part B: final written test
Part C: submission of a dossier containing the work done during the seminar. It will be possible to arrange individual study paths.

During the verbalization (i.e. the recording of the final grade exam) there will be a short interview. The POSITIVE outcome of the interview is an indispensable condition for passing the exam (even if written tests have received a positive evaluation).
