Learning outcomes
In the first part, the concept of “sociology of education” will be introduced, as well as the main approaches to the study of relationship between society and education (socialization, social identity, educational institutions, media education, policies education). The second part of the course will focus on some topical issues of contemporary societies. At the end of the course the student has learned the basic theoretical and methodological tools of the discipline.
Course contents
Part I: sociology of education. Through the analysis of the classical and contemporary social theory, we will investigate some of the milestone concepts of sociology of education. Part II: early school leaver.
