Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to familiarise students with some of the main demographic trends and techniques and their applications in business. The attention is devoted to real circumstances in which demographic methods, data and theory can be actively applied.
Course contents
Part 1
- Applied demography: concepts, definitions of applied demography and data sources;
- Demographictrends and consumer behaviour.
- Poverty and inequality in Europe and in Italy.
Part 2
- The demography of enterprises. Application of demographic methods to business organizations.
- Human resources planning, organizational demography.
- Demographic techniques for enterprises analysis: life tables,
cohort analysis, standardization.
