Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students should be able to use the main tools both of descriptive statistics and of  statistical inference and know information system ( farm structure, prices, crops, livestock and animal products) and economic accounts for the agricultural sector (Esa 95).

Course contents

Elements of descriptive statistics; probability distributions: binomial and normal; statistical inference: distribution of sample means and central limit theorem; confidence interval estimates; the hypotesis test; comparing two means, introduction to ANOVA, simple linear regression and correlation, multiple regression. 6th agricultural census (2010); information system on agriculture and zootechny: economic performance and farm structure, prices, crops, livestock, animal products and means of production. The structure of italian food industry. Economic accounts for the agricultural sector according to Esa-95.
