«WISH YOU WERE HERE». LANGUAGES, COMMUNICATIONS AND YOUTH CULTURE

IN THE SEVENTIES

The Seventies, generally known as the years of terrorism in Italy (“Anni di Piombo”), forecast the Eighties Crysis. Moreover they provide a fertile breeding ground for defining a period rich in contradictions and suggestions based on some principles  concerning country policies even though they monopolized  not only people's opinions, but also  the value of events. The Seventies are  the mothership of rock, new wave, punk. At the same time the have destroyed the ideals that funded the Sixties youth culture. Many intellectuals and artists has tried to explain this in terms of a radical social  change,  affirming than none was prepared and able to  handle it. Music, cinema and literature has been the main ways to “broadcast” new ideals, opinions and feelings of a disenchanted generation.
