Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the student:

-has the basic knowledge to understand how physical activity affects the quality of life and lifestyle;

-is able to identify and differentiate the volume and type of exercise needed to get the various health benefits and for the development of physical efficiency, particularly in relation to the aging process;

-knows the risks inherent in the practice of physical exercise;

-is able to analyze different protocols of motor activity aimed at prevention and the improvement of lifestyle especially related to sedentary lifestyle.

Course contents

RUN PROGRAM “TTD OF MOTOR ACTIVITY FOR the ADULT AND OLD AGE'” aa. 2011 - 2012,

Teacher Prof. Mauro Stegagno

The morfofunzional modifications of the organism in connection with the age

Osteo - articular apparatus

Signals of anatomy and physiology of the osteoarticular apparatus with detail reference to the adult and old people

Morfo - functional modifications correlated to the age and the entity and the type of the motor activity: anatomical, metabolic and mental aspects. Mechanisms of the loss and/or the maintenance of the efficiency and psychomotricity ability in the years. Variations of the muscular trophism (hypotrophy, atrophy, hypertrophy) with the age. Variation of the calcic tone of boneses: infuence of the motor activity Muscular Ligaments, tendons and bands: modifications of their efficiency with the age Importance of the feeding and the corrected vitaminic - mineral supplements - The role of the amount/quality of the feeding and the alimentary intolerances in the maintenance or loss of physical efficiency with the age. Equilibrium and posture Relationships between equilibrium, posture and health: the factors that they influence to them: psichyc, biochemistry and structure Determining main factors the equilibrium: peripheral proprioceptors (postural, tensiocetptors, baroceptors, chemoceptors, etc), inner ear, sight, System Skull - Sacral, “Prime Respiratory” Mechanism , dental malocclusion, elaboration of the receptors information from the SNC and importance of its integrity and “training”; psicological influences Postural appraisals “generate them” with “ examination” and “detailed lists” with posturostabilometric footrest computerized and kinesiologic test. The test of applied kinesiology and its contribution in the appraisal of the causes of postural imbalance (psychical, biochemical and structural)

Cardiovascular apparatus (ACV)

Signals of anatomy and physiology for a better understanding of its status in adult and old peoples. Modifications of the cardiovascular apparatus with the age Anaerobic the aerobic activity/and its impact on heart .Modifications of “physiology” and decrease of performance of the ACV with the age induced from various types of movement activities The modifications of cardiac frequency (FC) and arterial pressure (PA) like good parameters for evaluation of the level of engagement/answer and of the training of the ACV. Calculation of the maximum cardiac frequency, training “Wellness” and “Fitness”, in connection with the age and its adaptation in connection with the single person. Movement activity for the Wellness and the Fitness: indications and applications in relationship to age, sex, physical condition and diseases. Precautionary notes and indications motor activities more adapted in the subjects with infarct myocardium, angina pectoris, arterial hypertension, ictus,… Signals about the indications of the motor activity in the “Metabolic Syndrome” like essential contribution to the re-balance of the ematochimic parameters, for prevention of the diseaes and for the improvement of the wellness.

Respiratory apparatus

Signals of anatomy and physiology in reference to the adult and the old people.The functions of the respiratory apparatus for riarmonization of the vital functions of the organism: oxygenation of the woven ones, “cellular” respiration (cycle of Krebs), alveolar gaseous exchanges, venous return of the blood to the heart; the glare cardio - pulmonary; lung and kidney. Motoria activity in details conditions: smoker, asthmatic, chronic bronchitic…

Urogenital apparatus

Movement activity and renal insufficiency; prostatic hypertrophy,cronical inflammation of urinary bladder , urinary incontinence, etc Movement activity,

Immune system, and degenerative diseases

The adequate movement for the prevention of infectious diseases and tumors (colon, mammella, etc) Psicoemotional apparatus Movement activity and S.I.R.S. (Syndrome from Stress Inadequate Answer). “The stressed” adult: impact on the PNEI (psiconeuroendocrinoimmunology); its re-balance through the harmonization of movement, breath and “mind”. The role of the corrected motoria activity in the adult people and expectant, irritable old, depressed people: improvement of the anxiety, irritability, depression through the implement of the selfconsciousness.

E.R.T.” Technique

(“Emotional Rebalance Therapy) arranged to the adequate movement activity, in the adult and old people. Importance of the Tai Qi and the “Medical” Qi Gong in the adult and old age The conditions that determine the detail effectiveness of these movement sequences respect to other form of motor activity and their utilization in this wrap of age Movement sequences of mobilization of the various articular segments Practical of the Tai Qi for specific conditions: arthritis, arthrosis, diabetes, osteoporosis, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, etc Specific indications for postura, prevention fallen, SIRS, etc

Relevance of Tai Chi and Qi Gong "physician" in adulthood and elderly

. The conditions that determine the particular effectiveness of these motor sequences compared to other forms of motor activity and their practicability and effectiveness in these age groups. . Motor sequences of various segments of joint mobilization. . The practice of Tai Chi for specific conditions: arthritis, arthrosis, osteoporosis, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, etc. . Specific indications for posture, preventing falls, SIRS, etc.
