Learning outcomes

The aim of the present course is to supply to the student the knowledge concerning the subdivision of the chest, the abdomen and the pelvis in regions, the stratigraphy and the mutual relations between organs of the body cavities.

Course contents

The lectures deals with the regional anatomy of the neck, head, chest, abdomen and pelvis of small and large animals seeking to emphasize those features and topics that have a direct relevance in clinical work.

In particular, the following subjects are discussed: boundaries and relations between the regions of the surface of the neck, head, chest, abdomen and pelvis. Topography, vessels and nerves of the organs contained in the thoracic, abdominal and pelvic cavities. The supervised work consists of localizing the anatomical regions on the surface of the living animal and observation of fresh anatomical preparations of small and large animals.

Teaching methods

During lectures, the semeiological and clinical relevance of the topics of the course are emphasize and point out.

During practical work the Students observe some fresh preparation of the neck, head, chest, abdomen and pelvis, successively they make the same preparation on a small animal.
