Learning outcomes

The course aims to give students a basic knowledge to:

  • identify the main neurological diseases presenting with different symptoms by accurate history-taking and clinical reasoning
  • differentiate abnormal nervous system signs to suggest a diagnosis and

          possibly indicate the anatomical site of the lesion

  • indicate the appropriate diagnostic tests to confirm the diagnostic suspicion and assess their reliability and invasiveness
  • know the main pharmacological treatments administered in neurological

          diseases

Motor Systems. Sensory systems. Systems regulating equilibrium and coordination. Higher functions. Electroencephalography. Disturbances of consciousness and comas. Electromyography. Cranial nerves. Headache and facial pain. Epilepsy. Non epileptic seizures. Insomnias. Hypersomnias. Transient ischemic attacks. Stroke. Movement disorders. Inflammatory-demyelinating diseases. Dementias. Motorneuron diseases. Neuropathies.  Neuromuscular synapse diseases. Muscle diseases.
