Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to offer a selection of  the principal concepts  from Cultural Anthropology, explaining the analytical models which contributed to the development of the discipline. In particular, the course will focus on “contemporary anthropology”, underlining its peculiarities and applications.

Course contents

The first section of the course will be dedicated to anthropological research about the socio-cultural sequence of events in urban space, considering it as a relational system. The main research models of  urban anthropology will be introduced.

 

In the second section the topic of image will be considered. This section will consider several approaches about visual techniques, in relation to  anthropological and socio-anthropological research which use image as a main investigation tool.

Assessment methods

Attending students can do a written text, whose result will contribute to the final evaluation. In case they are not satisfied of the text result, they will do an oral exam about recommended reading. The text vote will be available until the last exam of winter session.

Non-attending students will do an oral exam about recommended reading.
