Learning outcomes
The object of the course is the analysis of the culture in its historical development of the Finno-Permians. It will be considered in its many aspects, linguistic to literary and traditional to mythical points of view, always in a comparative-contrastive contexts with regard to the culture of other neighbouring peoples.
The aim of the course is to permit students to broaden their knowledge of the languages and culture of the Finno-Ugrics through the study of their written and oral tradition, so as to provide the basic tools and a rigorous methodology for comparing the peoples of other cultures.
Course contents
The Finno-Permians in the context of Finno-Ugric culture
We will study the Finno-Permians in the context of Finno-Ugric culture. We will examine their language from a comparative viewpoint with regard to neighbouring languages and we will underline those aspects which mainly characterize their culture. We will consider their history, popular traditions, mythology and written and oral literature.
