Learning outcomes
At the end of the Course the student possesses general knowledges on the religions of the humanity, analyzed through the historical-comparative method, on the history of the studies and on the methodology of the religio-historical research. It has acquired the ability to understand and use correctly the language and the specific tools of the religio-historical research, knows the fundamental aspects of the religious phenomenon, can use critically the sources for the historical reconstruction and can apply inquiry methodologies to problems and to specific documents.
Course contents
The myth of the Great Goddess in the religio-historical research.
Course topics: History of Religions and his method. Nature and function of religion. The myth of the Great Goddess and the divine feminine.

Teaching methods
The Course consisist of: 30 hours of frontal teachings in classroom (obligatory frequency), held by titular teacher.
The Course also consist of:: approximately 20 hours of supplementary didactics (obligatory frequency), held by collaborators of the teacher.
The Course addresses students of middle level; proposes the (optional) drafting of written accounts; previews the reading of texts in foreign and classical languages (Latin and Greek), that however will be introduced with facing translation and adequate commentary; it is usually attended also from foreign students.
Assessment methods
The oral examination will aim to verify the understanding of the topics dealt during the Course, the acquisition of the knowledges proposed by the Bibliography prescribed for the individual study and the ability in interpreting documents and linking of research topics and problems.
Teaching tools
The Course includes the utilisation of library and computer lab of the Ancient History Department for researches and texts production.
