Learning outcomes

This course has an exact target: students that after one year of studying portuguese grammar and culture, will upgrade their own basic knowledges, fortifyng their own linguistic level. This course is not only a part of the annual program of the lessons of the brazilian lector and my own, but also an useful way to develop some specific structures that doesn't belong anymore to the basic level.

Course contents

The principal aim of this course is to work out some specific and pratical aspects  of the portuguese language, mostly concerning the lexicon, the orthography, the phonetics, the phonology and the morphology, together with a special regard to the portuguese language spoken in Brazil.
 
Phonetics:

  • The onomatopoeic words
  • The homophonous words
  • The homonymous words
  • The acccent
Lexicon:
  • The "false friends"
  • The foreigner words
  • The idiomatic and emphatic words
  • The synonymous, antonimous and denotative words
  • The exclamations and the interjections
  • The portuguese words in the italian lexicon
  • The italian words in the portuguese lexicon 

Morphology:

  • The augmentatives and the diminutives
  • The suffix: -vel
  • The primitive, derived, simple and composed words
  • The words formed by "justaposição" and "aglutinação"
  • The word derivation: prefixes and suffixes
Orthography:
  • The vocal alternation in the verbs
  • The orthography alternation in the verbs
  • The grafic alternation in the words: i/e; o/u; j/g; ct/c; c,ç,s ou ss; ch/x; s/z
  • The nasal diphthong alternation: -ão e -m
  • The grafic accent
  • The ponctuation
