Learning outcomes

The student has a good knowledge of the key elements of English language and culture, and can understand and produce both written and oral texts, expressing themselves fluently and naturally.

Course contents

The course aims to improve students' knowledge of the English language, in particular by consolidating their oral communication and argumentation skills in formal contexts.

For this purpose, the course develops through a series of theme-based lessons. Topics that are present in the cultural, social, and political debate of English-speaking countries are introduced from different points of view and then discussed in class. The debates require the active participation of the students through individual and small group works. The class is provided with written articles and audio-visual material, which are used to analyse the structures of argumentative texts and essays in the English language.
