i) Study of non-traditional models of language learning and teaching: didactics for autonomous language learning; peculiarities and criticalities inherent to the contexts of self-access, self-learning, e-learning, in particular in relation to motivational factors and to the concepts of transactional distance and autonomy; artificial intelligence and language learning.

ii) Assessment and evaluation of linguistic-communicative competences with a specific focus on some issues of diagnostic-formative assessment: design of assessment tasks, validation processes including psychometric ones, study of feedback with reference to self-correcting items. Research topics on assessment are also tackled with reference to the specificities of vulnerable or disadvantaged candidates.

iii) Educational Linguistics and plurilingualism: study of interactional competences in plurilingual oral interaction contexts, with special focus on teaching and communication contexts in intercomprehension, for the development of linguistic and academic competences, such as soft-skills.

iv) Institutional communication, administrative and specialised languages, with special reference to issues of comprehensibility, simplification and readability of texts and speeches.
