KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABILITY:
Graduates:
- will know and be able to make use of the fundamental concepts of business administration and its technical language;
- will have knowledge of the fundamental mathematical and statistical tools for surveying, measuring and quantitative analysing economic phenomena;
- will know the fundamentals of micro-economics and macro-economics as tools for managerial decision-making, for the proposal and understanding of economic policies, and more generally, for understanding how modern economy works;
- will have knowledge of legislation regarding public and private companies, particularly regarding the Italian Constitution, the Civil Code and related laws;
- will know the various types of contracts and companies;
- will understand the financial structure of companies, the capital market and the methodologies by which companies acquire and invest financial resources;
- will know the main concepts, analysis models and techniques used for defining and understanding the organisational structure of companies and of business strategies;
- will have knowledge of the main corporate strategies, their practical applications, fund raising and profitability of new investments;
- will have knowledge of topics related to the structure and dynamics of the financial system, brokering and financial markets;
- will have knowledge of the institutes involved with companies and their essential features.
The knowledge and understanding abilities above are achieved through lectures, practical activities and seminars; supervised and self-directed home study, in particular regarding the core discipline groups SECS-P/01 Political Economy, SECS-P/07 Business Administration, SECS-P/08 Corporate Finance, SECS-P/09 Financial Management, SECS-P/11 Economics of Financial Intermediaries, SECS-S/01 Statistics, SECS-S/06 Mathematics for Economics, Actuarial Studies and Finance, IUS/01 Private Law, IUS/09 Institutions of Public Law, IUS/04 Commercial Law.
Assessment is accomplished mainly by means of oral and written exams.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND TO UNDERSTAND:
Graduates:
- will have a global understanding of business phenomena and the knowledge necessary for analysing businesses from an economic and financial viewpoint;
- will know and be able to apply accounting methodologies and operative tools for the rationalisation of business management processes, particularly as regards business cost analysis and calculation techniques;
- will be able to apply human resources management and personnel coordination techniques in order to optimise the available resources in companies;
- will have knowledge of the product and particularly distribution and market positioning;
- will possess team-working skills, be able to carry out research on selected topics and have a sound working knowledge of the topics dealt with.
The ability to apply knowledge and to understand as above is achieved by means of critical consideration of the proposed reading texts for home study, research case studies and applications explained by teaching staff, numerical exercises, particularly with in the basic and core disciplinary sectors (SECS-P/07 Business Administration, SECS-P/08 Corporate Finance, SECS-P/09 Financial Management, SECS-P/10 Business Organisation) as well as during a possible internship and in preparation for the final paper/project.
Assessment (written and oral exams, reports, practical activities) requires the completion of specific tasks in which students demonstrate command over tools and methodologies and critical autonomy. The internship is assessed through the presentation of a report by students and their in-company tutor.
JUDGEMENT SKILLS:
Graduates:
- will understand the profitably use of different types of companies and consortiums in the economy;
- will be able to study the relationship between businesses and financial markets, the markets being where the company may obtain the resources necessary for investment and how, at the same time, the company's performance is judged and evaluated;
- will be able to process economic data;
- will have the necessary knowledge to identify and resolve some of the most common problems in business management using appropriate statistical and economic methodologies;
- will be able to understand the features specific to entrepreneurs and the limits and opportunities offered by public regulations.
Judgement skills are developed in particular by means of practical activities, seminars, and papers in the course units IUS/04 Commercial Law, SECS-P/07 Business Administration, SECS-P/09 Financial Management, SECS-P/11 Economics of Financial Intermediaries, SECS-S/03 Statistics for Economics, and in internships or traineeships and in preparation of the final paper/project.
Assessment is accomplished through the evaluation of the level of autonomy and working ability, also as part of a group, and during the period of internship and in preparation of the final paper/project.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Graduates:
- will be able to present a concise report on a topic that is coherent with themes related to the degree programme;
- will have basic knowledge of English, and specifically of economic terms.
Communication skills are developed in particular during course units that require the preparation of reports and written documents and their oral presentation. The acquisition of the skills above takes place also during the internship/traineeship and during the work carried out by students in preparation of the final paper/project and its discussion.
English is learnt during a specific course unit which is followed by a pass/fail language test.
LEARNING SKILLS:
Graduates:
- will be able to apply the learning methods and tools developed to update and to elaborate upon the subjects studied, both in a working environment and when undertaking further studies.
The learning abilities acquired are a result of the entire period of study, especially during the required home study and through the assignment of individual projects and in preparation of the final paper/project.
Learning skills are continuously assessed during the course units which require the presentation of data collected autonomously, and through an evaluation of the ability for self-learning gained while preparing the final paper/project.
