Laurea (First cycle degree/Bachelor - 180 ECTS) in Preventive Techniques for the Environment and Workplace (for certified professional technicians of prevention in the environment and workplace)

The 1st cycle degree programme in “Techniques of prevention within working environments and places” qualifies graduates to operate as Expert in prevention in working environments and places (Ministerial Decree nr. 58/1997); it offers to teach to graduates the ability to know and apply the criteria of assessment, preventive measures and legislative tools available pertaining to environmental hygiene and safety in living and working places, food and beverage hygiene, public and veterinary hygiene and health. This professional figure can be operate in the world of work as employee or as freelance in public or private sectors (Structures of the National Health System as well as in Departments of Public Health or Regional Agencies for Prevention and Environment), with functions of prevention, monitoring, and supervision, as well as in the private sector with organisational and management tasks for safety in working or food handling environments (services of corporate prevention and safety, food industry).

Those defined by the Interministerial Decree of April 2 2001 “Defining the classes of university Degrees for health care professions” for the class of degree in Health Care Professionals for Prevention. Based on article 4, paragraph 1 of the law nr. 251 of August 10 2000, the graduates of the class will be operators of technical professions for prevention who practice autonomously the activity of professional expert for the prevention, assessment and control pertaining to environmental safety and hygiene in living and working places, food and beverage hygiene, and public and veterinary hygiene and health. However such activities must be conducted as part of responsibilities provided for by the professional profiles. Graduates are provided with an adequate preparation in the basic disciplines, such as to allow them the best understanding of the most important elements, which are at the base of the pathological processes in individuals in the developing age, in adults and in the elderly on which their preventive and/or rehabilitating inattentions are focused. Plus, they must know how to utilise at least one European language, in addition to Italian, within the specific field of expertise and for the general exchange of information. Based on the above-mentioned courses, graduates must achieve the professional skills indicated and specified hereinafter in reference to the individual profiles identified by the provisions issued by the ministerial authorities. The achievement of the professional skills is accomplished through a theoretical and practical education, which includes also the acquisition of behavioural skills and that is achieved within the specific working context of each profile, in order to guarantee, on completion of the educational course, full control of all the necessary skills and their immediate usability in the working environment. As integrating and qualifying part of the professional education, the educational practical activity and clinical internship, carried out under the supervision and guidance of specially assigned professional tutors, coordinated by a highly trained professor provided for each professional profile and corresponding to the regulations defined at European level, whereby existing, is of particular importance.
