30803 - Professional Skills Laboratory: Pedagogy II (G.M)

Academic Year 2025/2026

Learning outcomes

At the end of the Laboratory, the student will be able to: critically approach the proposed theories and methodologies; apply the proposed theoretical constructs to specific educational and healthcare contexts; discuss the risks and opportunities of the practices highlighted in the Lab; notice underlying notions and ideologies in concrete educational events.

Course contents

The Laboratory The pedagogist in healthcare contexts focuses on the educational dimension of healthcare professionals. It develops observational and social interaction analysis skills in educatonal contexts, particularly in relation to healthcare settings.

The Lab focuses on collective analyses and discussions of videorecordings and transcripts of real-life conversations between care professionals and patients. In particular, three healthcare contexts will be investigated: triadic visits of unaccompanied foreign minors (UFMs), pediatric visits, and primary care visits of elderly patients.

Particular attention will be devoted to the following issues: the role and dilemmas of educators during UFMs' healthcare encounters; interprofessional collaboration; the acknowledgment or denial of patient's agency; the educational work of healthcare professionals; the interactive construction of "good" parenting; the interactive construction of "normality"; educational alliances and disalliances.
