Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student acquires a general knowledge of the main psychological currents of thought, of the most important cognitive processes and of the main experimental methods of cognitive psychology. In fact, the general aspects of Cognitive Psychology will be addressed during the course. The aim is to provide the student with a historical and thematic overview of the main psychological currents and the most important cognitive processes studied by psychology. Course contents
The first part of the course will deal with general aspects of Cognitive Psychology. The aim is to provide the student with a historical and thematic overview of the main psychological currents and the most important cognitive processes studied in psychology.
In the second part of the course, individual cognitive processes will be addressed in more detail. The aim is to achieve a general knowledge of the topics examined and of the main experimental methodologies employed.

Lectures with power point presentations. The slides will be available on Virtuale.

Attendance is strongly recommended.
Assessment methods
The final exam consists of a multiple choice test.
The examination aims to verify:
1. the mastery of the acquired contents;
2. the level of critical-conceptual elaboration of the proposed contents;
3. the ability to orient oneself among the main interpretative lines.
For attending students: the multiple-choice test is complemented by the possibility to answer an open question. The open question focuses on issues addressed during the course, thus on group activities and topics supplementary to the content of the texts. Detailed explanations will be provided in class.
Exam sessions
During the 2025/2026 academic year, exam sessions are scheduled in the following months:
November; January; April; June-July; September.
Students can participate in the exams following the year of enrollment, keeping in mind that the syllabus and exam modality will be updated according to the current academic year's course.
