Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students are familiar with the basic elements of the literary culture of English-speaking countries; are able to identify them in specific literary texts; and are able to independently develop further knowledge and cultural-literary skills at a higher level and apply them to other specific literary texts as well.
Course contents
An immigrant look at the melting pot: the course focuses on works by Anglophone authors dealing with the American myth through the gaze of migrants. Through the analysis of literary works by authors who migrated to the United States, the course will focus on themes such as gender, race and intersectionality.

The following novels will have to be read in full:

-Salman Rushdie, Fury
Other texts and materials will be made available throughout the course.
Teaching methods
In-person lectures. Attendance and active participation are highly encouraged.
Assessment methods
Oral exam. Students' knowledge of the texts and topics discussed throughout the semester and their analytical skills will both be evaluated.
