Learning outcomes

At the end of this course the student  will understand and recognize the principal neurological disorders and related symptoms impacting on posture, balance and motility and understand the underlying pathophysiology

Course contents

In the 24 hours of the course the following main neurological disturbances will be treated:

- semeiotics

- Motor Neuron Disease

- Myasthenia gravis and myopathies

- Neuropathies and radiculopathies

- Multiple sclerosis and dedicated ortheses and aids

- Cerebro-vascular diseases

- Cerebral palsies (brief overview)

- Poliomyelitis (Brief overview)

- Movement disorders: Parkinson's disease, chorea, dystonia, tics

- Epilepsy and transient loss of consciousness

 

Readings/Bibliography

Any up to date version of neurology manuals to be integrated with materials presented during the lessons

Frontal lessons including videoclips

Assessment methods

Oral exam, at least 2 questions on the program

In detail:

very limited knowledge and ability to analyze only after prompts, correct use of specific terms → 18-19;
limited knowledge and limited ability to analyze issues, correct use of specific terms → 20-24;
Wide knowledge of the subject and ability to analyze issues autonomously and with a fluent use of specific terms →25-29;
Very exaustive knowledge of the subject, ability not only to analyze issues but also to make significant connections between different issues, full knowledge of technical language and in depth dissertation and analysis → 30-30L
