Course contents

The Phenomenological Revolution

Phenomenology plays a central role in twentieth century’s philosophy. The course intends to follow its history: starting from the idea of intentionality (Husserl), it then illustrates Max Scheler’s theory of affects and analyzes Martin Heidegger’s Theory of Being-in-the-world. The last part of the course is dedicated to European philosophy after the Second World War, in particular, to the questions of “body” by Merleau – Ponty, “trace” by Derrida and “others” by Levinas
