Learning outcomes

At the end of the learning module the student will have an in depth knowledge on the mechanisms of labor and delivery and of the puerperium

Course contents

1. principles of biostatistics, perinatal, infantile and maternal mortality: 2. duration of pregnancy, dating, the onset of labor; 3. first stage of labor, the latent period, the active first stage; 4. the second stage of delivery, the passive and active second stage, the birth canal and the mechanical aspects of parturition; 5. the third stage; 6. assessment of fetal well being in labor, perinatal asphyxia; 7. induction of labor, indications and methods; 8. Operative deliveries; 9. puerperium
