73165 - Hydraulic Construction And Hydraulic Protection Of Territory M

Academic Year 2015/2016

  • Moduli: Alberto Montanari (Modulo 1) Armando Brath (Modulo 2)
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures (Modulo 1) Traditional lectures (Modulo 2)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Environmental Engineering (cod. 8894)

Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide a comprehensive treatment of river basin management and the design of river engineering works. Focus is placed on the comprehension of the river flow regime, the estimation of design variables and the environmental impact of hydraulic infrastructures.

Course contents

Introduction to river hydraulics. Precipitation and river flow measurement. Rainfall-runoff modelling. Estimation of peak river flows. Open channel hydraulics. Design of selected river engineering works. Small scale physical models. River basin management.

Readings/Bibliography

Da Deppo, Datei, Salandin - Sistemazione dei corsi d'acqua - Libreria Cortina Padova

Teaching methods

The course is taught through frontal lectures. Exercises will be developed at the personal computer to solve practical design problems that are discussed during the lectures.

Assessment methods

Oral examination
