Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide a comprehensive treatment of river basin management and the design of river engineering works. Focus is placed on the comprehension of the river flow regime, the estimation of design variables and the environmental impact of hydraulic infrastructures.
Course contents
Introduction to river hydraulics. Precipitation and river flow measurement. Rainfall-runoff modelling. Estimation of peak river flows. Open channel hydraulics. Design of selected river engineering works. Small scale physical models. River basin management.
