Course contents
The
course covers the main aspects of the most important infectious diseases of
wildlife. Each disease is treated by focusing
particular attention on: identification of the
causative agent, collection
of data on the host population, analysis of the environmental
variables, collecting
and sampling field data, management of the health
of wildlife through actions on the
pathogen, the host population (through drug
treatment and immunization) and
the environment. Issues of more immediate professional response
will be taken into
account with regard to the conservation of the
species, the
interaction with the world of production and public health.
The course also
includes practical exercises on
sampling and
diagnostic activities, seminars by speakers
with specific
expertise and study visits.
