Learning outcomes

Students will be able to analyse natural interaction in different social contexts, using conversation analysis and discursive psychology metodologies. Students learn to analyse interaction adopting a multimodal approach that focus both on verbal and gestural aspects of interpersonal communication.

Course contents

COMMUNICATION IN INSTITUTIONS

The course will propose the study of institutional communication, focusing on interaction in juridicial contexts. The focus of the analysis will be trial interaction, particularly witnesses' strategies in contructing their versions of facts and their credibility, and prosecutors' strategies in countering and/or supporting witnesses' during the examination and the cross-examination. The analysis will be done on video recordings of trial interaction.
