Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students reach the knowledge and grasp of Music Education (Pedagogics and Didactics of Music), with an emphasis on Didactics of listening. Students attending the course are expected to possess a basic knowledge of musical technique and some notions on general Pedagogics.

Course contents

The classes, beginning on February 2nd 2015, take place on Monday and Thursday; 5-7 p.m., on Monday and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. on Thrusday; via Barberia 4, in Bologna, "Salone Marescotti".

The teaching program involves theoretical issues as well as practical exercises (seminars) on the Didactics of listening. In the seminars, students will be involved in planning “units of learning”.

N.B. Students short of any knowledge of general Pedagogics shall retrieve them through F. Frabboni - F. Pinto Minerva, Introduzione alla Pedagogia generale, Rome-Bari, Laterza, 2003 (excl. following chapters: Part I/1; Part II/2; Part III/3).

Students who did not attend the courses of Music Pedagogics on the first level (DAMS), and therefore are unaware of the basics of the discipline, shall retrieve them through M. Della Casa, Educazione musicale e curricolo, Bologna, Zanichelli, 1985, rist. 2002 (the entire Part I, chap. 1, 2, 3, and 4, and Part II, chap. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10).

Teaching methods

The courses are carried out with the collaboration of the research team annexed to the chair of Music Pedagogics.

Assessment methods

For the examination, students are expected to report orally on the bibliography listed above; in addition, they must submit in written form (c. three type-written pages) a “unit of learning” aimed at classes of Secondary School, 1st or 2nd degree; finally, they are expected to report on two concerts (or theatrical performances) of art music they have attended recently, situating the works they have listened at into their proper historical framework and providing a critical statement on performing, etc.
