Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, student knows the models of urban european systems and how they works, in relation to the national and european scale

Course contents

Argument: Contemporary European Cities. East-West confronts.

-Mains aspects of urban modernisation in Europe
- Exemples of Capital cities
- Capital cities in Central and Eastern Europe before and after 1989
- Urban changes in the last decades: urban regeneration
-Cities, Metropoles, Urban Regions:some contemporary challenges

Assessment methods

During the lectures, individual presentation of specific aspects of some cities can be required.At the end of the course a written examination, optional and reserved for students attending, can be organized, consisting in some open questions, tired from arguments discussed during the lecture or in texts indicated for complementing them.

It will assess the ability of the students to expose the general aspects of various themes, and the necessary examples.

Similar evaluations will be carried out during the oral tests for non-attending, to attest the knowledge of the indicated books.

Videoprojector will be used for help the lessons with photos, maps and geographical models
