Course contents

Linguistics and interpreting.  Part one: Linguistics and interpreting.  Speech as a product (notions from textual and functional linguistics) and as a process (conversational analysis and sociology of interaction). Part two: Expository speech:Exercises of repetition (echoing), synthesis, and reformulation of spoken monologue. Exercises of spoken synthesis and paraphase of written texts. Reflection and exercises on varieties of Italian. Parameters to evaluate public speaking

Teaching methods

  Lectures and group works. For  12 hours  the class will be divided into two subgroups (followed alternately by the teacher and the lector) to increase opportunities for individual speaking practice.

Assessment methods

There will be  practical tests during the course. The final examination will consist of an expository speaking test and a written examination on the content of the course.
