Learning outcomes


Course contents

The course will include a series of lectures on the following topics:


- the past, memory and the construction of identity (with particular reference to the "heritage" movement in Britain);

- different museum types and the appropriate communicative strategies for each;

- text types in museum communication;

- the problem of the audience in museum communication;   

- the translation of museum texts;

- museum web sites.


The course will also include a series of seminars with student participation and the analysis of case studies.

Teaching methods

Lectures and seminars with student participation.

Assessment methods

Oral exam based on a discussion of texts on museum communication and an analysis of the communicative strategies of a museum chosen by the student in consulation with the lecturer.
