Learning outcomes
The Course of Sociology of the Cultural and Communicative Processes aims to help you to see and to analyse the main social trends in the “post”-modern society, and the relevance of sport and exercise in it. A lot of theoretical and empirical tools will be presented, so you will be able to better understand the dynamics in leisure time, the social relevance of mega-sport events such as the Olympics, the Paralympics, and European and World Football Championships, the media and the sport, the communication for health and movement, the social motivations for exercise and fitness or wellness in the up-to-date society, etc.
Course contents
The Course of Sociology of the Cultural and Communicative Processes will teach the main concepts and theories useful to analyse the up-to-date changes which are leading to the “post”-modern society, and the relevance of the communication in all the sport activities and events.
In the course you can distinguish three parts, the following ones:
a) in its General Part the Course will present you the main sociological theories, which seems to be useful to study the up-to-date changes which are leading to the “post”-modern society, for instance the emerging interest to the fitness and the wellness.
b) in its Monographic Part the Course will present you the exits of the differentiation process in the modern society, and analyse the reasons of the growing relevance of sport in the free time sphere. The Course will dibate the hypothesis of the emerging social structure, linking stronger three sistems: sport, media, and sponsor, and its consequences on the civilization process.
c) the aim of the seminarial part of the Course is to promote your cognitive interests in the field of the sport communication, and to show you studies and empirical researches in this field. So in its seminarial part the Course will present the main findings of sociological studies and researches in the communication of the great sport events and activities, as the TV audience in Italy of mega-sport events, such as the Winter Olympics, the Winter Paralympics, and the World Football Championships (2002-2010).

Teaching methods
Face-to-face lessons, and case studies supported by the new technologies of communications.
Assessment methods
Writed exam will be about the topics of about 2 books (minimum program) or more books (enlarged program), chosen by the student between the above listed books.
The test will be composed by 20 questions (the minimum program) or more (the enlarged program): 10 questions for each other chosen book. Each question is at multiple choice: you have to choose the correct answer among five responses, the other ones are wrong. Questions and answears will be already written in the test, so that the student will have only to choise the answear(s) which he/she will keep as right. If you'll chose the enlarged program, you could gain 2 bonus: 3 points more and a rounding of the score.
Time: 1' for each question, maximum 20' for the minimum program, +10' for each chosen book.
You can pass the exam if you'll gain 12 right answears in the test for minimum program, and +6 right answears for each chosen book (enlarged program).
2 important info.s about your examination:
a) in order to be admitted to the exam: You had to be present at minimum to the 70% of the lessons. Presences under this minimum may be integrated by studying a book more than the minimum program (a forth book, choised between the listed ones). No presence at all, or a presence less than 6 hours, don't allow to gain the Uec.s, so that the student cannot be admit to the exam.
b) In order to be registered to the roll-call: You had to insert your name in the electronic list for the exam within the 5th day before the fixed date (you can have access to the e-list in the AlmaEsami website, at the url: https://almaesami.unibo.it/almaesami/welcome.htm). Erasmus students may request an earlier review by the day of their departure.
