Learning outcomes
The theoretical course will look closely at syntax as well as some stylistic features and lexicography.
Course contents
Course contents: General syntactical terminology relating to different types of sentences and members of the simple sentence.
- Formation and use of active and passive participle.Short and long forms of participles.
- Formation and use of gerund. Verbal adverbs.
- Syntax: conjunctions, time and verbal aspects concord.
- Transformation of a symple phrase in a complex one and of an active phrase in a passive one. Exercises on translation from Italian to Russian.
- Studyof verbal aspects.Use of prefixed verbs.
Stylistics, lexicology and pragmatics.

Teaching methods
The course in articulated in 30hours of frontal lesson, in which the linguistic theorical competences are mainly developed.
Oral practicelessons, held bydott. L.Poutsileva(lexical and grammar practice and oral comprehension and practice) are an essential part of the teaching and exam programs.
Assessment methods
The written exam consists of a grammar test and two writtentranslation tests (one from Italian into Russian, without dictionaries, and another from Russian into Italian with a dictionary)-about 4 hours. As to the translation from Russian to Italian is concerned, the students can attend the part devoted by prof. Niero to literary translation in the program of Letteratura russa 3.
The written exam is a prerequisite to the oral exam, which will include the reading and linguistic analysis of a text in Russian as well as a conversation on an everyday topic dealt with during the course and agreed on with the teachers.
