Course contents

  • Identification of the principal fishes Family in the freshwater commerce: Belontiidae; Callichtydae; Characidae; Cichlidae; Cobitidae; Cyprinidae; Cyprinodontidae; Loricariidae; Poeciliidae.
  • The aquarium – Requirements and factors  that allow the correct functioning of the aquarium

-         Dimension/proportion; density of population.
-         Filter: types of filtration; materials utilized.
-         Illumination: types of illumination; valuation of the light.

-         Heating: types of  heating; T°C required for the different species.
-         Water: parameters of value end control: pH, GH, KH, NH3, NO2, NO3, O2, CO2, PO4.

  • Acclimatization and prophylaxis of the aquatic animals

-         Modality of acclimatization for the aquarium's fishes.
-         Equipment for the health in aquarium: Ozonator, UV Lamp, Calcium Reactor, Skimmer.

   Semeiotics of aquarium's fishes – Study of  signs and behaviours that allow a diagnosis.

  • Roles exercised by the aquarium's plants
  • Therapy – Approach to the fishes's cure.

The use  of aquarium in Pet therapy.
