Learning outcomes

To provide an organic knowledge about agricultural market organization, market power of farmers,  distributive margins in food  products, objectives, functions and strategies of distribution.

Course contents

Market and agro-food system: animal production system; demand and supply of agro-food commodities, determination of prices: commodity prices through time: price cycles and the cbweb model; market stuctures: perfect competition,, monopolistic competition, oligopoly and monopoly, agricultural market organization: integration types, cooperatives, producer organisations, market orders and boards; market margins in food product; consumer behaviour and fonctions and strategies of distribution;  evolution of international trade in agro-food products.
