Teaching methods
In this course, optical
telecommunication systems will be presented and
analyzed under the engineering
aspect.
The fiber and the
various optical components and devices will
be so "black boxes" whose features will
be highlighted.
The knowledge gained will be
used for the design of real communication
systems, using professional
software packages.
Through laboratory exercises,
students can finally experience to
make direct measurements of some characteristics
of real fiber optic systems.
Assessment methods
Laboratory Test (CAD) followed by a brief interview.
Teaching tools
Course slides prepared by the teacher. Solved exercises to be used as a reference.
