Learning outcomes
The purpose of the course is to provide firstly a general knowledge on plant pathology in ornamentals and forest plants and then to give students knowledge about available techniques for pest and disease control.
Course contents
First part: pathology of ornamental and forest plant; the concept of disease in plant; infectious diseases (parasitism and disease development, diagnosis); Fungi, Bacteria, Mollicutes, Virus and Viroids); noninfectious diseases (by environmental factors)
Second part: technical and economic aspects of pest and disease control; features and evolution of plant protection in different sectors; control measures (cultural, genetic, biological, physical, chemical methods); effects of plant protection on man, non target organisms and environment; legislation in plant protection; plant protection management in conventional, integrated and organic agriculture. Pest and disease control in ornamental and forest plants.
