Learning outcomes

Course contents

The student will understand the mechanisms that regulate cell cycle and apoptosis, within the regulation of the cell differentiation and of the cell response to genotoxic stress.
In detail:
Apoptosis: what it is, how it happens, when it happens, how it is regulated. Intrinsic and estrinsic pathway. Short information about other ways of cell death. Relationship of apoptosis with adult and embryonic differentiation
The regulation of cell cycle. Check points, signals, relation with differentiation.
genotoxic stimuli and their consequences on apoptosis and cell cycle.

Assessment methods

The student will give written answer to three questions about apoptosis and three questions about cell cycle
