Learning outcomes
The course aims to improve the student's listening, reading, oral and writing skills in English, developing the lexis and grammatical structures required to reach post intermediate level (B2).
Course contents
The module
covers:
- study and analysis of various kinds of texts mainly concerning
contemporary topics;
- listening exercises for oral and written summary;
- analysis of problematic areas of English grammar for Italian speakers;
- effective use of a monolingual dictionary.

Teaching methods
At the beginning of the first semester students will be divided into three groups, according to their level of English proficiency. During the first semester each group will attend two lessons each week. The English Language module will include work in groups or pairs aimed at giving each student the possibility of exercising their written and spoken language skills.
Assessment methods
The exam will consist of 2 parts:
- a lab exam which will test listening and written skills;
- an oral exam which will include:
the discussussion of one novel/film/current affairs news chosen from a list available at the end of the course.
