Course contents
SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY
Lectures are based on social psychology and they aim to introduce first-year students to the dynamics occurring between man and society. They also foster the main theoretical perspectives in social psychology, that can result useful and effective in the social and educative field.
The examined topics are the following:
- the social cognition; - the understanding of the self and of others; - social attitudes; - social influence; - aggressive and altruistic behaviours.
A particular attention is paid to the processes of stereotypes and prejudice formation (construction of social categorization, information processingn, the role of language), to widespread and obstinate phenomena in society. The course analyses new types of prejudice, strategies to contrast them and the relationship between discourse and prejudice.
