Course contents
Farm management economic analysis: phases in the farmer's decision –making process. Choice evaluation: methodologies commonly used. Machinery: how to calculate hourly and yearly cost of pesticide application equipment use and of crop protection cultivation methods. Technical, economic, and environmental effects of product innovation in phytosanitary defence equipment. Plant protection and its implications: economic, social, and hygienic. Tools and methods used in plant protection. Undesirable effects of pest control products. E.E.C. policies to prevent environmental endangerment. Economic and energy issues regarding plant protection: “cost/benefit” evaluation and economic thresholds.
