Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide information regarding the most important lesions related to pollution in aquatic animals, by presenting and discussing scientific reports. Particular relevance will be attributed to the role of water organisms as biomonitors and biomarkers of environmental risks relevant to the consumer health, to the pathogenesis of lesions, and to morphopathological techniques adequate to their assessment.
Course contents
Systemic pathology of disorders caused by the presence of pollutants in water, in relation to their nature, way of entrance, concentration and time of exposure. The target organs. Methods in pathology: macroscopic exam, histology, immunohistochemistry, histoenzimology, electron microscopy. Organizazione of environmental surveillance plans.
