Academic Year 2023/2024

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Orthopaedics Techniques (cod. 5915)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student has the basic information required to set up a simple experimental study in the field of orthopedic techniques, conduct it and analyze the data from a statistical point of view. After an overview of evidence-based research, the fundamental statistical parameters for the choice of outcome instruments is instroduced, togeter with the classification of experimental designs, the problems related to IRB approvals and good data collection practices. Finally, the main parametric and non-parametric statistical tests are presented. The topics are discussed through the critical analysis of studies published in the international scientific literature. Excel is used as the software tool for statistical data analysis.
