Course contents

Practical dance workshop
in collaboration with Elisa Pagani*

The Theatre Laboratory (1) aims to offer the students a practical experience of dance workout, focusing in particular on the choreographic process, thanks to the approach to the work of the choreographer Elisa Pagani, director of the DNA Company (www.dnamove.com).

How to write and create a contemporary dance performance? DNA's creative strategy proposes a fertile pattern that fits into the dancer body and into the narrative needs of choreutic creation. As DNA changes and evolves from the conservation of a generative error, the starting point of the creative process is a biomechanical task, a delivery to be explored, which allows the weaving of the choreographic material which will then be forged and modeled to create the narrative landscape. Components ofevolution and creative development are the acceptance of the slip and the unexpected change, as an opportunity to discover a dynamics till that moment ignored, which turns out to be more efficient, functional and progressive. A dance made up of attempts at salvation, authenticity and honesty, in which the truth is welcomed in favor of an instinctive and ecological aesthetic. The dancer is immersed in a shared system that constantly transforms himself, a dynamic environment within which the body is danced. It inevitably welcomes the audience into the telling as an active, involved, ingested observer. In that act of restoring visibility to the realities that already exist within each of us, but not having their own language, there's the key to read DNA creations.

The Laboratory offers a practical experience of dance training, based on the methodology developed by Elisa Pagani. The practical lessons will be complemented by the viewing of some video extracts of performances, appropriately introduced and analyzed in the classroom.

Attendance at the Laboratory requires participation in the Training Course on Safety in Places of Study, in e-learning mode [https://elearning-sicurezza.unibo.it/].

Assessment methods

The Theatre Laboratory, like other similar activities, does not provide for a profit examination. The constant and active participation in the lessons, monitored by the attendance register, will then determine the achievement of fitness.
To qualify, it is essential to attend at least 80% of classes. For students and students who have attended less than 80% of the lessons it will not be possible to proceed to the verbalization of the Theatre Laboratory.
