Learning outcomes

The course of History of Contemporary Philosophy 2 aims at widening and exploring in-depth the same arguments and problems treated in the course of History of Contemporary Philosophy 1. Through the reading of texts and the involvement of students for comments and interpretations, the course focuses on the central themes that characterize twentieth century philosophy and culture. The aim is to encourage the acquisition of tools useful to understand some of the most important philosophical works of our time, as to increase the students’ critical capacity and awareness.

Course contents

The philosophy of Henri Bergson

Bergson is one of the most important figures of European philosophy between the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century. The course will be fully dedicated to analyze his thought through a critical reading of some of his most relevant writings.

As part of the course,  Dr. Giovanni Zanotti will hold the seminar "Bergson e Freud sulla natura del comico". The seminar programme is available at the webpage https://virtuale.unibo.it/course/view.php?id=20314)

Assessment methods

The final oral exam focuses on the programme’s material and will be held in the Professor’s office, Via Zamboni, 38.

The critical evaluation considers the fundamental notions, the level of the analysis and the critical skills. On the basis of these three principal parameters an overall evaluation in thirtieths is expressed.

22-25 Average

26-28 Good-Very Good

29-30 Excellent
