Learning outcomes

The course of lessons intends to offer a critical approach to the Italian Literature, with a deep knowledge of some important works, as those that follows.

Course contents

"ATTHE BOUNDARIES OF THE MIND". Literature, Otherness and Madness in the perspective of Medical Humanities.

The course (wich consists in 60 hours of lessons) tries to present to the students the contribution offered by literature to the understanding of the dynamics of the acceptance and the exclusion of the Other. In particular, the course is focused on Lorenzo Viani, Mario Tobino, Eduardo De Filippo and Giuseppe Pontiggia.

The course consists in the explanation of the texts (considered in the cultural, anthropological, medical and literary context of their authors).

In the perspective of MH we will consider, furthermore, the contribution that even Arts and Cinema are still offering to the character -at the same time, empath and rational - of human relations.

Teaching methods

The teaching method implies a series of lectures, but it needs a sort of "collaborative learning" from the students. With this purpose, we will use music and films as "supports" of the lessons.

Assessment methods

The assessment is determined, in part, by an oral exam, and, in other part, it consists in a paper (that must be done before the oral assessment with Prof. Veglia).

Teaching tools

Pictures, video, films, interviews etc. (on YouTube).
