Academic Year 2018/2019

  • Moduli: Annalisa Trentin (Modulo 1) Amir Djalali (Modulo 2)
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures (Modulo 1) Traditional lectures (Modulo 2)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Advanced Design (cod. 9021)

Learning outcomes

The module provides a study of the dynamics of urban development as a tool for the definition of repeatable architectural models on the territory, on the infrastructure network of digital systems necessary for the knowledge and valorisation of architectural, cultural and artistic heritage. At the end of the course the student knows: to understand the dynamics of urban development; to develop competences for the understanding of repeatable architectural models on the territory; to define useful systems and services for the knowledge of the city and necessary for its use.

Course contents

The course related to the design of interactive systems and products for the city sees the contribution of “Architectural and urban Composition” combined with “Industrial design”. This need arises from the premise that the city and the territories of contemporaryity are increasingly confronted with a network of digital infrastructure systems necessary for the exploitation of a historically, culturally and artistically patrimonized, up to now exploited and valued heritage.

One goal will be to understand the dynamics of urban development by using them for defining repeatable architectural models in the area: pavilions, info points, boxes supporting the urban museum system, urban mobility support structures (for buses, trams, cycles, motorcycles, cars ...), definition of interactive digital systems useful to the knowledge of the city etc ...
Cities become increasingly digitized organisms and for this reason it is necessary to merge the disciplines that aim at the knowledge and development of the city with a particular emphasis on public space and on disciplines that deal with innovation and development of hypermedia products .

The union of design and analysis of urban systems will lead to the development of prototype projects characterized by a strong innovation both in terms of structure and image, which will be coherently inserted in both historical and new areas expansion.

Readings/Bibliography

A specific bibliography will be provided during the course.

Teaching methods

The course will be developed through practical activities aimed at analyzing the built environment of the selected case study. Practical exercises will be complemented by a theoretical contribution to supporting design activity.

Assessment methods

Practical Activity, Presentation Seminars.

Teaching tools

Lectures through slides projection, audio and / or video reproductions, practical exercises directly related to the themes of analysis, reading and urban representation.
