Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student knows the organization, both at the macroscopic and microscopic, of angiology and the lymphatic system, the respiratory system, integument of Domestic Mammals and Avian Anatomy.

Course contents

Angiology: heart, the structure of the blood and lymphatic vessels. The arterial and venous system. The lymphatic system: lymph nodes, sleen, thymus. Lymphocenters and lymphatic drainage.

Respiratory system: nostrils and vestibule of the nose, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lung. Thoracic cavity.

Integument: skin, hair, horn, hoof and mammary complex.

AVIAN ANATOMY

Introduction to the body systems of the domestical birds. Skeleton: skull and cranial kinesis, cervical and thoracic vertebrae, synsacrum and pelvis, caudal part of the vertebral column, sternum, ribs and pectoral muscle. Peritoneal cavities and digestive system: classification, topografy, structure and functionality. Beak, oral cavity and pharynx, tongue. Oesophagus with crop. Proventriculus. Gizzard. Small and large intestine. Liver and pancreas. Respiratory system: nasal cavity, choana, laryngeal mound and larynx, trachea, syrinx. Lung and air sacs Urogenital system: kidneys and ureters. Ovary and oviduct. Testes and sexual development. External features and integument.

Teaching methods

Over-head projector, slides (Power Point) during lectures. The students, during practical and supervised works, can see and make dissections on animals. The students have, also, the opportunity to attend anatomy room in others days, under an irregular control of the teacher.
